Offering the ring!
On Saturday, Jan. 31st, 2009, at 6:10pm, the Airway Saturday Night Live Bowling League was just finishing up it's practice period. I announced to the league, as many of you have always heard, to "Hold up, and we will start you for league play". This time I added "we are also shutting off the lanes for a special announcement". I then handed the mic to Rich McClelland, who was in our back office. He started speaking, on the mic, of his love for Samantha Heikkila, a long time Airway bowler and employee. Sam had a puzzled look on her face as she looked around to see where the voice was coming from. Then Rich stepped out of the counter office, with the mic, and roses, and went around the counter, and in front of Samantha, and in front of God and everyone from SNL and all the Airway employees, knelt on one knee and professed his love for her, and asked her to marry him. After several giggles, sputs and sputters, Sam was finally able to croak out a "Yes". People up and down the lanes burst in to applause. Samantha had a definate pink glow to her all night, and Rich FINALLY quit shaking like a leaf. Nice job, Rich.
