Airway Lanes has had the AbsoAir air cleaning units in place for over 5 years now. Ever since installing them, I have had very few complaints about smoke smells. That, invariably, is because the scheduled filter change was pushed back a few days -- for whatever reason. Generally, and specifically regarding smoking, no news (complaints) is good news. I have had people come to me and say they no longer need to shower when they get home, after bowling, because the cigarette smells are no longer there. Several people have commented that Airway doesn't"Smell like a bowling alley"!". Whatever the comments are, I am sure they work great because of the increase in schools outings, and family bowling activities ever since their installation. While I believe that all public places should be smoke free, when that happens it will be a bitter/sweet day for me because right now, Airway has a tremendous competitive advantage because of its air quality. FYI - AbsoAir recommends that the 4" pre filters be changed about every 8 weeks, the charcoal filter about avery year, and the electrinoc filter about every year also. I have the 4" filters ($12 each x 7) changed every 3 weeks, and the electronic and charcoal filters every 10 months (at about $2000 each). Maintanance on the units runs about $5500 a year, but the results are well worth it.
