The Sweepers will resume January 11th. Feed back tells us that attendance problems were caused, in part, because we were holding off the start until late arivals showed up. Made for a long night if you went all the way to the end. Starting with the January 11th event, we are starting at 10:00pm for practice, then right in to competition. I will be posting the 16 week average for the Sweepers. This includes ALL games bowled in the event during the 16 week period. The last year that the league averages were published, the Airway Sweeper average was almost 15 pins higher than the next closest league.
Here is how the 16 week rolloffs work: 1) The 16 winners from a Series (or runner ups in case of duplicates) will be entered into a seperate single elimination format Sweeper. 2) ALL bowlers, even non-weekly winners, will draw for lanes and compete in the regular Sweeper. 3) The weekly Sweeper Winners will draw numbers 1 - 16. That will be their position in the "Special" Rolloff. 4) From this point on, each bowler will match scores, with the higher score advancing, until only one winner is left. 5) Entry fee for the "Special" rolloff will be $15. Airway will put in $200. The payoff will be 2/3 for 1st, 1/3 for 2nd. 6) If someone loses their match in the regular Sweeper, but is alive in the "Special" Sweeper, that person will be assigned to another lane to bowl for the express, and only, purpose of continuing in the "Special" Sweeper, until eliminated. 7) If someone comes up with an alternative method, please let me know for the Spring Series. 8) Airway reserves the right to switch the "Special" rolloff format to a King of the Hill event in case there are only a few qualifiers that show up.
